Crisis Support for Children and Their Parents, From Tohoku to Tokyo

> Following the March 11, 2011 Great Tohoku earthquake in Japan, Price Global came up with an initiative to support anxious working parents in Tokyo and raise funds to support The Japan Association for Play Therapy (JAPT). Led by Dr. Akiko Ohnogi, a renowned Child Therapist. The JAPT volunteer their skills to teach “Therapeutic Play” to child carers and teachers working with children affected by the disasters in Tohoku. The training equips caregivers with the tools to empower children to process thoughts and emotions through play.

Price Global's work in this area was featured in an article in the BCCJ Acumen in March 2014 (page 6).

Through Price Global’s network of multi-national corporate clients, we provide in-house sessions on “How to Talk and Play with your Children during and after a Crisis” to working parents. These sessions are presented by qualified child therapists in English or Japanese.

Proceeds from these sessions support JAPT’s on-going work in the Tohoku region.

Prior to founding Price Global, Suzanne Price worked as a Psychiatric Nurse and Psychotherapist. This collaboration came as a natural bridge between her clinical background and her consulting work as an inclusion and wellness practitioner.

We are most appreciative to the child therapists who provide these sessions ‘in kind’ in order for us to donate our fee to this much needed and valuable service.

Since the launch of this initiative, Price Global has provided 40 sessions to organisations around Tokyo. We hope to continue to raise funds to support JAPT via these sessions. If you are or your organisation is interested in running this one-hour session, please contact us.
